The Dangerous Book For Boys Canceled at Amazon
Inspired by the book of the same name by Conn and Hal Iggulden, the Amazon Studios-Sony Pictures Television co-production debuted in March following a long development process which included a brief period at NBC. The comedy followed a boy named Wyatt who, along with his brothers, is mourning the death of their father, a brilliant inventor named Patrick. Deadline first reported the news. The streaming services are taking over the Emmys. Four years after "House of Cards" opened up the major categories to online content providers with three wins, Netflix, Hulu and Amazon have hit an all-time high with a combined total of nominations. But how did we get here?
Also included are famous quotes, stories, historical battles, and phrases that "every boy should know. Conn Iggulden also published a novel entitled Wolf of the Plains about Genghis Khan , which, along with The Dangerous Book for Boys , allowed Iggulden to become the first author to reach the number one spot in both the fiction and non-fiction charts. Within the first week of its US publication on 1 May , it reached number two on the Amazon best-selling book lists, being outsold only by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Other people who contributed to the success of the book include the editorial team, which consisted of Katie Espiner and Clare Hey, as well as Helen Johnstone, who won the British Book Industry Award for best publicity campaign. Some reviewers have criticised the book for encouraging its young readers to partake in activities that could result in injury, although there is a liability warning below the copyright information. Others have praised it for helping to counter " PlayStation Culture" through its promotion of outdoor activities and games. The original edition of this book has a cover based on the cover for the Boy's Own Annual , the yearly compendium of the popular magazine, Boy's Own Paper.
The book didn't include a narrative of any sort but was more of a series of essential instructions and information for boys such as fishing tips, wilderness survival help, and histories of important battles. The series followed the McKenna family as they dealt with the death of their beloved inventor dad, Patrick Chris Diamantopoulos. Following Patrick's death, his three sons discover "The Dangerous Book For Boys" that their father left behind and youngest son, Wyatt, retreats into fantasies based on the book where he's able to interact with his father. The cancellation doesn't come as a surprise even if it's only four months after the first season debuted. Amazon Studios went through a significant change in leadership and has been churning out new series at a quick pace to replace series from the previous regime. Cranston originally tried to sell the series to NBC which Deadline points out was run by Salke at the time and when they passed he brought it to Amazon. Cranston and Mottola will be fine but the real tragedy here is that excellent comedic actress Erinn Hayes will be looking for work once more.
