My mom bought me this book as a Christmas gift, probably because in the past year I have become quite the cooking junkie, although nothing like Julie Powell. The episodes of cooking brains, slicing apart a live lobster, and eating all sorts of internal organs really disgusts me. Her husband tells her that she should document it on a blog and indeed she begins that very night. She gains some readers fairly quickly and off she goes, cooking nearly every night, in order to make the recipes within one year. Her husband is generally very supportive, washing the millions of dishes that she produces and choking down some of the less appetizing dishes, although a couple of times, when she loses perspective on the project, is forced to bring her back to earth.

Rate this book. As far as I know, the only evidence supporting the theory that Julia Child first made Potage Parmentier during a bad bout of ennui is her own recipe for it. She writes that Potage Parmentier- which is just a Frenchie way of saying potato soup - "smells good, tastes good, and is simplicity itself to make. She concedes that you can add carrots or broccoli or green beans if you want, but that seems beside the point, if what you're looking for is simplicity itself. Simplicity itself. It sounds like poetry, doesn't it?
Clients, family and friends all seemed to glow with this strange excitement after watching the Blockbuster hit Julie and Julia, book written by Julie Powell. Everyone suddenly wanted to start a blog. I thought the movie was about Meryl Streep playing Julia Child…? Well six months or so after the movie released, I finally broke down and saw it. Being a blogger, I was filled with inspiration to say the least. See the bottom of this post for a trailer on the movie. Once I finished the two hour movie, I started thinking about the underlying message and how Bloggers out there can learn from it.
The film contrasts the life of chef Julia Child in the early years of her culinary career with the life of young New Yorker Julie Powell , who aspires to cook all recipes in Child's cookbook in days, a challenge she described on her popular blog that made her a published author. Both of these books were written and published in the same time frame — The film is the first major motion picture based on a blog. Streep and Adams previously starred together in Doubt In , Julie Powell Adams is a young writer with an unpleasant job at the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation 's call center, where she answers telephone calls from victims of the September 11 attacks and members of the general public complaining about the LMDC's controversial plans for rebuilding the World Trade Center.
